Hollywood History Society seeks to tell true stories of Hollywood’s pioneers, focusing on what they did to help others during difficult times, such as the Holocaust.
Before Hollywood was about about glamour, it was about hard work and
Jewish immigrants played a big role in the early days of many major motion picture studios, yet their stories have not been fully told.
Jews are part of diversity in Hollywood and there are many historic, true stories yet to be told.
We began as a dream, as many noble efforts do. When Deborah Fletcher Blum began producing a documentary about her ancestor, Carl Laemmle, who founded Universal Studios and saved Jews from the Holocaust, she needed a fiscal sponsor. Rather than seeking outside sponsorship, she decided to create her own non-profit that filled a new nitch in the non-profit world.
She created Hollywood History Society to assist her in making her current documentary and to assist similar projects be produced in the future.
